Bile Alkaline Work Emulsifies Fat Function Neutralises Stomach

Front What is the function of bile?
Back
  • Bile is alkaline - it neutralises the stomach acid and creates the ideal alkaline conditions for enzymes in the small intestine to work in
  • It emulsifies fat (breaking them down), which gives them a bigger surface area for the enzyme lipase to work on, hence makes digestion faster.
Extra
emulsifies - breaks the fat into tiny droplets
